Ebru Yılmaz is a developmental psychologist and assistant professor at the Psychology Department. As the principal investigator working on two major research interests: PsychoMUSE Lab - Vocal Communication, Musicality & Neurodiversity; and Urban Childhood / City and Child Studies Lab.
The Urban Childhood Lab explores how children’s development is shaped by play, ecology, and social interaction within urban environments. Grounded in ecological and sociocultural approaches, the lab examines children’s everyday engagement with city spaces, natural elements, and peer communities.
Through interdisciplinary methods, this research investigates how play, environmental affordances, and socialization processes interact to support cognitive, emotional, and social development, with particular attention to children’s lived experiences in contemporary urban ecologies.
