Q. What are the English language requirements?
A: Students who hold a document verifying that they have achieved an acceptable score in an international English proficiency exam (e.g. TOEFL, Pearson PTE Academic or C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced – CAE) recognized by the Senate at Bahçeşehir University, may be exempt from the English Preparatory Program.
In order for a student to be exempt from the English Preparatory Program, the student must achieve a satisfactory score in an international exam whose equivalency is recognized by Bahçeşehir University. Foreign language exam results received in the last two years are acceptable.

* TOEFL® is valid for 2 years after the test date. Bahcesehir University’s institution code for ordering your official TOEFL Test score from ETS is C471. There is no department code, this can be left blank. Test taker copies are not accepted, and test scores need to be sent directly by ETS. Applicants can order their score reports through their test taker profile by indicating Bahcesehir University’s institution code. Bahcesehir University verifies the TOEFL results in the online verification system provided by ETS.

Q: How can I be exempt from the English Preparatory Program if I don’t have a TOEFL, CAE or PTE?
A: New students who don’t have a TOEFL, CAE or PTE score are required to take and pass the exams given by the School of Foreign Languages English Preparatory Program. Please see our English Proficiency Requirement web page for specific information on English proficiency exam announcements.
Costs, Tuition, and Scholarships
Q: Does the university offer any scholarship ?
A: We offer a 25% scholarship (if bachelor’s degree GPA upon gr aduation is 2.75 or above on a 4-point scale)
70.83 and above on a 100-point scale
14 and above on 20-point scale
We also offer our BAU graduates a 50% scholarship.
Q: What scholarships are available for international students?
A: Bahçeşehir University currently offers two types of tuition fee scholarships:
Success Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a student at the end of their second year, if they rank the first or second in their department, on a list published by the university. If they are placed the first in their department, they receive a 100% scholarship. If they are ranked second, they are awarded a 50% scholarship. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the student must complete four semesters.
Faculty Scholarship: These scholarships are offered to those registered to the following faculties: Health Sciences, and Educational Sciences. Students who apply to these faculties can get a scholarship of 30%.
Additionally, if you have any projects or personal abilities that can contribute to the university, please send us a letter of intent and proposal for review by the scholarship committee.
Q: Can I get a job on campus to help pay for my expenses?
A: Yes. Students may work up to 60 hours per month when there are job openings in departments during regular school terms and full-time during school breaks such as summer vacation.
Residence Permit
Q: When can I apply for my residence permit?
A: After your registration is completed; Please visit The Dean of Students office on weekdays from 10:00-17:00 , so we can assist you with the following Residence Permit application process. After registration foreign students are required to have student visa except nationalities exempted from visa to enter Turkey for travels up to 30-90 days. All other types of visas or legal entrance procedures will be accepted by BAU for registration as well.
Q: Which documents do I need for my residence permit?
A: Passport
Photocopy of passport ID page, as well as any pages of student visa and/or entry stamps.
Printouts of the application form in color
Student Certificate in Turkish (Öğrenci Belgesi)
Health insurance
4 passport-sized biometric photographs
Tax Number from the tax office
Receipt of payment of the application fee (Can be paid in a tax office or at any branch of Ziraat Bank)
If the applicant is under the age of 18; consent letter (from both Parents) and Birth Certificate must be provided (translated to Turkish).
Q: Do I need to apply for a residence permit?
A: Under Turkish law, international students must apply for residence permits within 30 days of entering Turkey, and before their visa expiration date.
Applications for permits can take up to 90 days to be processed.
Applicants are not recommended to leave Turkey until their application is processed and they have received their residency permit.
It is highly recommended to visit the BAU Dean of Students Office to apply for residence permit. You can apply in person on campus by visiting our office.
Majors and Academics
Q: When do the courses start and finish?
A: You need to follow the Academic Calendar to obtain information about all the important dates throughout the year.
Q: How and when do I register for courses?
You will register for classes during International Student Orientation after you have arrived on your campus. You can also register online for classes before you arrive on campus.
Q: Can I double major?
A: Yes. You can double major in two different subjects by obtaining approval from both departments to declare a double major.
Q: How large are classes?
A: Class level and major affect the size of classes a student will encounter. Students are likely to experience an increasing proportion of small classes as they progress from freshman to senior level.
Q: What support do freshmen have? Do they have advisors?
A: All freshmen BAU students have a student advisor that we call a “Mentor” to help them navigate through the university and give information about the university courses. Each BAU student has also an academic advisor to help them with their questions about their departments, majors.
Q: What internships are available to undergraduates?
A:Our COOP department helps students to get access to scholarships with national and international companies. Internships are announced and send to the individual mail boxes of the students.
Q: Are there volunteer opportunities for students?
A: Yes, students can volunteer at a number of local organizations and schools. The Student Volunteer Center helps connect students with volunteer opportunities.
Q:How to obtain a Student Certificate?
A:You will need to obtain a Student Certificate (Öğrenci Belgesi) for various administrative work, such as for the residence permit and student transportation card. You can obtain your student certificate by accessing and applying through the SAP system.

4.Choose Student Certificate, and select the language you would want the certificate in. (Please choose ‘Turkish’ for the residence permit/transportation card applications)
5.You should choose ‘Wet Signature’ and delivery type, then choose the campus you would want to collect it from.

Q: How many campuses does BAU have?
A: BAU has 5 campuses in total. Beşiktaş North Campus, Beşiktaş South Campus, Galata Campus,
Göztepe Campus, Future Campus, Çatalca Campus
Q: Are students required to live on campus?
A: No, BAU students are not required to live on campus, however, we have a dormitory, called Unihall, on our Kemerburgaz campus.

Q: What clubs are there?
