About Nazlı Kazanoğlu
Nazlı Kazanoğlu obtained her Ph.D. from Ulster University School of Applied Social and Policy Sciences in 2018 with her thesis entitled ‘The Politics of Europeanisation Patterns of Work and Family Life Reconciliation Policies: Germany and Turkey’. She obtained her MSc from Istanbul Bilgi University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, which she obtained from the Middle East Technical University. She was a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley University during her master's degree and at Bremen University during her PhD. She has received various grants including the Santander Mobility Awards and UACES Travel Support awards at various stages of her PhD. Since returning to Turkey in 2019, she has worked in projects supported by various institutions such as Koç University Seed Fund, TURKONFED and Qatar Development Agency. Kazanoğlu works as a faculty member at Istanbul Nişantaşı University, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Her research interests lie in the areas of Europeanization studies, comparative welfare regime analysis, new-institutionalism theory, gender equality, social policy, employment policy, women’s employment and reconciliation of work and family life. She has numerous articles, books and book chapters and blogposts published in her areas of expertise. These include 'The Politics of Europeanisation: Work and Family Life Reconciliation Policy' (Routledge, 2021), ‘Understanding the moral economy of state-civil society relationships: Islam, women’s NGOs and rights-based advocacy in Turkey’ (Turkish Studies, 2022) and De-democratization under the New Turkey? Challenges for women’s organizations (Mediterranean Politics, 2021).
