BAUART Gallery
BAUART aims to support young artists and through art, to strengthen international dialogue. Therefore initially in our own gallery, nowadays in cooperation with external partner galleries we regularly organize exhibitions. The main goal of BAUART Gallery is to bring art closer to our university’s students, to create an international art exchange with cities around the world, especially where BAU campuses exist, and in order to contribute to the city’s contemporary art scene, to support Istanbul’s young artist by providing a platform for their first solo exhibitions.

BAU Art Bridge
Just as Bahçeşehir University forms an intercultural bridge across continents with its many international campuses within the scope of BAU Global, BAUART also aims to contribute to the intercultural conversation as part of BAU Art Bridge by the means of art events. Some of these events include: as part of the X Jazz Festival in Berlin and Istanbul of Laia Genç & Istanbul Composers Orchestra which consists of artists of various nationalities, such as German, American, Syrian and Turkish. Additionally as part of the “Make City Berlin” architecture festival, at the Berlin Chamber of Architects we exhibited the works resulting from the Urban Photography workshop we conducted with Bahçeşehir University students in Istanbul, Berlin and Rome. The musicians of Berlin Trickster Orchestra and Istanbul Hezarfen Ensemble, joined six poets from Turkey and Germany on stage for “Divan BERLIN-ISTANBUL: Transpositions of Poetry and Music”, a concert in cooperation with Kulturakademie Tarabya and Goethe-Institut, and with the support of Berlin Capital Cultural Fund Berlin.
Concert Series: Ender Sesler / Rare Sounds
As BAUART strongly we believe that our mission is not only to support popular culture but to also make lesser-known forms of art more accessible to the public.
The concert series “Ender Sesler” for which we collaborated with Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat offers a stage to unusual and rare musical concepts which one may not often see in mainstream venues. To date, the wide repertoire of the “Ender Sesler” project has welcomed amongst others, Contemporary Music composer Stefan Lienenkämper, BAUART Jazz certificate program faculty member Tamer Temel’s extraordinary jazz-project Töz, the educational and mesmerizing performance of Irish-Scottish composer and violinist Garth Knox, and the solo concert of santoor player and former street-musician Sedat Anar.
These concerts are performed at Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat’s “Loca” hall and partially supported by Goethe-Institut, Kulturakademie Tarabya and Zuhal Müzik.
Additionally, BAUART organizes art workshops (photography, book club, music therapy to name just a few) exclusively for university staff. These take place at least one per week.
