Yes. Bahcesehir University has an Art and Culture Directorate (BAUART) which organizes numerous art events open to the public throughout the year. A short description of these activities are listed and explained below:
BAU Sound of Civilizations Choir
In accordance with our belief that music has the power to unite people all around the world and to promote peace, we formed the BAU Sound of Civilizations Choir (BAU Medeniyetlerin Sesi Korosu). Members of the choir are not only students of the university, but of all ages and walks of life. Traditional folk music from Anatolia, the Balkans, Middle East and Caucasia form the main repertoire of the Choir. Turkish, Kurdish, Greek, Armenian, Bulgarian, Georgian, Macedonian, Serbian, Albanian, Slovak, Romani, Arabic and Azerbaijani folksongs are performed by the choir in their original language. The choir’s many concerts in Turkey and abroad, remind us that “East” and “West” are not so distant after all.
A sophisticated orchestra of professional musicians and various renowned guest artists accompany the choir.
Art Director: Muammer Ketencoğlu
Choirmaster: Öcal Öcalan
