Dr Łucja Domańska, from the Institute of Psychology at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (Poland) visited Bahçeşehir University and gave a lecture on discovering the challenges of diagnosis and how to differentiate depression from neurological symptoms. The talk highlighted the difficulty in diagnosing depression in patients with vascular brain injuries. Depression in these patients often goes underdiagnosed due to overlapping symptoms with neurological and neuropsychological deficits, as well as challenges in communication. Challenges faced in clinical practice also discussed.
