2023-2024 Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Türkmer Turkish Preparatory Program. 25.09.2023 Turkish Placement Exam And 28.09.2023 Turkish Proficiency Exam Information

2023-2024 BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY (BAU) TÜRKMER TURKISH PREPARATORY PROGRAM TURKISH PLACEMENT EXAM AND TURKISH PROFICIENCY EXAM INFORMATION

At Bahçeşehir University, it is a requirement for international students who have been accepted to partially or entirely Turkish-medium programs to successfully complete the Turkish Preparatory Program, (unless they have exemption), before they can begin classes in their departments.  Students in these programs who are registering for the first time, and those who have signed up for the Turkish Preparatory Program of their own volition must take the Turkish Placement Exam on 25.09.2023 Monday. Students who answer a minimum of 30 of the 60 multiple choice questions correctly will be eligible to sit the Turkish Proficiency Exam. International students in undergraduate programs (associate and bachelor’s degree programs) must score a minimum of 60 points on the Turkish Proficiency Exam in order to be exempt from having to complete the Turkish Preparatory Program. A minimum of 65 points is required for international students in graduate programs to get exemption. 

TURKISH PLACEMENT EXAM

Bahçeşehir University 2023–2024 Academic Year Turkish Placement Exam will take place IN PERSON on 25.09.2023 Monday 10.00 at the Beşiktaş South Campus.

Exam content: The Turkish Placement Exam is comprised of 60 multiple choice grammar and reading questions.

A wrong answer penalty is applied : For every 4 wrong answers, 1 correct answer will be subtracted from the overall  score.

  Exam length: 70 minutes.

Exam location: This is an IN PERSON exam which will be held at the Beşiktaş South Campus. Students will be informed of the exam hall one day before the exam via e-mail.

Students must visit the site before coming to the exam in order to avoid any problems that may otherwise arise.

Students who score under 30 from a possible 60 on the Turkish Placement Exam held on 05.09.2023 Tuesday  will be placed in Turkish Preparatory Program classes according to their level determined by the exam. Classes begin on 09.10.2023 Monday at the Beşiktaş South Campus.  

TURKISH PROFICIENCY EXAM

Students who answer a minimum of 30 of the 60 questions on the Turkish Placement Exam held on 05.09.2023 Tuesday correctly will be eligible to sit the IN PERSON Turkish Proficiency Exam on 28.09.2023 Thursday

Exam content: The Turkish Proficiency Exam is comprised of reading comprehension, linguistic performance, listening, writing, and speaking sections. The reading comprehension, linguistic performance, and listening sections are multiple choice. The speaking section of the exam will be held face to face on the afternoon of the same day. 

Exam length: Reading comprehension and linguistic performance sections are 60 minutes long; the listening section 40 minutes ; the writing section 70 minutes, and the speaking section 10 minutes.  The speaking section will be administered by appointment.

Exam location: The hall for the written section and the time for the speaking section of the exam, held at the  Bahçeşehir University Beşiktaş South Campus, will be posted on the evening of 28.09.2023 Thursday on the “Exam Information” page of the Bahçeşehir University BAU TÜRKMER website:

 Students who do not meet the minimum score requirements on the Turkish Proficiency Exam held on 28.09.2023 Thursday will be placed in Turkish Preparatory Program classes according to their level determined by the exam. Classes begin on 09.10.2023 Monday at the Beşiktaş South Campus.  

You should bring your ID card with you when you come to the exam.
