Faculty of Architecture and Design - Dean's Message

Dear Students,

At the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Bahçeşehir University, structured around the vision of placing an interdisciplinary and holistic education model at the core of both contemporary and future-oriented educational approaches, we offer our students a high-quality professional education at international standards across different scales—from the city to the product—through our departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Industrial Design, and Textile and Fashion Design.

Our “integrated education approach,” supported by national and international technical visits, seminars, talks, conferences, and professional and artistic exhibitions, extends beyond the curriculum. This approach aims not only to support our students’ professional development but also to contribute to their cultural and intellectual growth. Our exchange programs with Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, international summer and winter workshops held each year in countries such as Japan, Spain, Austria, and Italy, as well as our Erasmus and World Exchange connections, are among the important educational activities that support this vision.

The advantageous location of our campus in Beşiktaş/Yıldız, at the center of Istanbul and easily accessible from many parts of the city, supports the contextual teaching of history and theory courses while also inspiring project topics in design studio courses that focus on the needs and challenges of the city. The BAU Faculty of Architecture and Design also places great importance on providing students with early professional experience through the CO-OP Program, which integrates professional practice into the academic curriculum.

With a large number of international students from different countries, our faculty provides education in a rich intercultural environment. Our primary mission is to educate professionals who demonstrate professional awareness of the challenges of not only today’s world but also the world of the future; who adopt universal ethical values; who remain at the forefront of technological advancements in the sector; who possess the confidence to assume responsibility in a globalized world; and who maintain awareness of their cultural identity while engaging with the contemporary world.

With our faculty members—composed of internationally experienced academics and leading practicing architects, interior architects, and designers—our central location in the heart of the city, our intercultural learning environment, and our national and international extracurricular educational opportunities, I would like to express my pleasure in welcoming young individuals who wish to become part of Bahçeşehir University, a university with a strong tradition aligned with universal standards.
