Architecture and Design PhD Program focuses on researching and creating theoretical foundations of environments designed in the context of architecture and city. While considering designed and built environments as cultural production, the program aims to develop and produce methods to examine the theoretical foundations of the changing nature and boundaries of design-related disciplines; then transfer the knowledge produced to contemporary design discourse and practice. Designed environments, which constitute an important example of cultural accumulation, and the concept of "cultural object", which can be handled accordingly, are examined with an interdisciplinary approach in its historical development.
Mandatory courses in the program are for creating a paradigmatic research environment, As optional courses are designed to enable the doctoral candidate to develop in the field of interest.
