Faculty of Architecture and Design - Workshops and Technical Trips
In addition to the international summer and winter schools it organizes, the Faculty of Architecture and Design also arranges technical trips abroad and workshop activities in order to enhance students’ visual and cultural knowledge. Through trips ranging from the United States to the Far East, the aim is to increase the cultural awareness of design students and to educate open-minded and innovative professionals by enabling them to examine design solutions implemented in built environments across different geographies.
BARCELONA Technical Trip (Spain)

Barcelona, a Mediterranean city where significant urban and architectural developments are taking place in the contemporary architectural agenda, serves as an important laboratory for architecture students in terms of architectural theory and history. In addition to its strong Catalan architectural culture, the city is home to renowned architects such as Gaudí, Montaner, and Cadafalch.

MOROCCO Technical Trip

Morocco, which combines Islamic architecture, Spanish architectural influences, and modern experiences of the twentieth century, offers a rich visual and theoretical background that contributes to the architectural knowledge of participating students.
Large courtyards adorned with enchanting gardens, the use of geometric patterns and vibrant color schemes, the organic formation of cities, and sensitivity to materials and climate are among the most distinctive characteristics of Moroccan cities.

VIENNA / PRAGUE Technical Trip (Austria / Czech Republic)

Since 2008, the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Bahçeşehir University has organized trips to Central Europe in order to introduce students to architectural developments on the European continent. The aim of the Vienna/Prague technical trips is to explore the roots of modern architecture, analyze the coexistence of the old and the new, and examine architectural practice in these cities.
During the program, in addition to visiting various museums and art galleries, students also attend the graduation project exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where they gain insight to diverse approaches to architectural education.

SALZBURG Workshop (Austria)

The Salzburg Workshop is jointly organized by the Department of Wood and Wood Technologies at the University of Salzburg and the Department of Architecture at Bahçeşehir University. Students are tasked with designing urban furniture for the city of Salzburg, considering the city’s urban fabric, architectural approaches, and urban identity.
The resulting projects are evaluated by a jury composed of instructors from both universities.
Academic and educational collaboration between Salzburg University and Bahçeşehir University continues through the Erasmus agreement between the two institutions.
