About Voluntary Internship

Dear Student,
Before commencing your voluntary internship process, you are required to obtain internship insurance. The insurance period is determined by calculating the internship start and end dates based on working days (including Saturdays) and excluding official holidays. Retroactive insurance cannot be issued. Insurance can only be arranged for future dates. Due to the operating procedures of the Social Security Institution (SGK), internship insurance procedures cannot be processed if there is more than one month before the internship start date. The voluntary internship process is explained below in three main steps. Please read the explanations carefully, follow the steps, and send your completed documents to the specified email address 5 days before your voluntary internship starts at the host institution.
Step 1: Download the Required Documents

- ✔ Voluntary Internship Petition (Click to download)
- ✔ Voluntary Internship Application Form (Click to download)
- ✔ Letter of Commitment-1 (For Students Covered by Their Own or Their Parents’ Insurance) (Click to download)
- ✔ Letter of Commitment-2 (For Students Without Insurance and International Students) (Click to download)
Step 2: Fill Out the Documents Correctly

- The Voluntary Internship Petition you downloaded must be approved by the Head of your Department.
- The Voluntary Internship Application Form must be signed by both your Head of Department and Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kerem ALPTEKİN. Afterward, the box located at the lower-right corner of the form must also be stamped and signed by the institution where you will complete your internship.
- Letter of Commitment-1 must be completed by students who are insured themselves or who benefit from their parents’ insurance.
- Letter of Commitment-2 must be completed by students who are not insured, who do not benefit from their parents’ insurance (i.e., those without any health insurance), and by international students.
- Your application must be submitted together with the Residence Certificate, Copy of ID card and 1 passport-size photograph.
- In some cases, internship institutions may request occupational health and safety certificates from students. In such cases, you must obtain the relevant certificate and have the printed document approved by the Occupational Health and Safety Unit at BAU North Campus A Block (mezzanine floor) or at BAU South Campus.
