Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional trained to perform physiotherapy and rehabilitation for congenital or acquired diseases, disorders, or injuries, and to implement preventive physiotherapy practices aimed at protecting and promoting health. In this context, physiotherapists are specialists who determine individuals’ physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs using contemporary assessment and measurement methods, and who plan and implement individualized physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs.
In line with their professional education, physiotherapists adopt preventive, corrective, and developmental approaches by considering the holistic needs of patients, their families, healthy individuals, and society. Accordingly, increasing quality of life and sustainably promoting health constitute the core vision of the profession.
Established in 2013 with a current and evidence-based educational approach, the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Bahçeşehir University aims to educate physiotherapists who are competent in their field, who adopt universal ethical and scientific values, who are research-oriented and innovative, and who possess a strong sense of professional responsibility. With its strong academic staff and practice-oriented education model, the Department aims to contribute to the development of health sciences through scientific research.
In line with this objective, the Department provides a comprehensive laboratory infrastructure to enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice. Educational and research activities are conducted in a total of seven laboratories: two physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice laboratories, one electrotherapy and physical modalities laboratory, two biomechanics and kinesiology laboratories, one virtual reality laboratory, and one anatomy laboratory. These laboratories actively support the development of clinical skills at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as measurement and evaluation processes and scientific research.

Professional Profiles of Graduates
The professional fields of physiotherapists continue to expand. Our graduates may work in hospitals within internal medicine departments such as Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, and Internal Medicine; and within surgical departments such as Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Obstetrics and Urogynecology, General Surgery, Hand Surgery, as well as in Emergency and Intensive Care units.
Outside hospital settings, they may work as physiotherapists in rehabilitation and specialty centers, public health centers, rehabilitation institutions for individuals with disabilities, child and elderly care centers, vocational rehabilitation centers, municipalities and public institutions, sports and fitness centers, sports clubs, home care and rehabilitation services, schools, and industrial organizations.
