Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Botany Laboratory

In the Pharmacognosy Laboratory, studies are carried out on drugs that can be obtained from natural sources. The aim of the Pharmacognosy Laboratory is to elucidate the chemical composition and biological activities of medicinal plants. The structures of extracts prepared from medicinal plants or of purified molecules isolated from these extracts are determined using various chromatographic methods, and the biological activities of these compounds are investigated through various experiments. In the Pharmaceutical Botany Laboratory, studies are carried out on the morphological characteristics of medicinal plants using macroscopic and microscopic techniques. The aim of the Pharmaceutical Botany Laboratory is to carry out practical work on plant terminology, the botanical characteristics of medicinal plants and the preparation of herbarium specimens.
