BAU Medicine - APID (Academic Performance Monitoring and Support)
In order to contribute to the academic development of BAU Faculty of Medicine and to support the targeted high-quality medical education and the academic development of faculty members, a system called "Faculty Member Academic Performance Monitoring and Support (APID) " has been established within the Dean's Office of BAU Faculty of Medicine.
The APID system has been formulated to develop the careers of our faculty members, who constitute the academic strength of BAU Faculty of Medicine as a "research-oriented medical school", and to increase their contribution to science. In line with our mission, the aim is to create conditions that will enable our faculty members to contribute at the highest level to the training of the scientists and physicians of the future.
In this system, the indexed coefficient obtained will be updated periodically every six months for faculty members at all levels.

BAU Medicine APID Index: H-index + Number of publications + (E x P x O) |
The BAU Medicine APID index is calculated in the format above. Accordingly:
H-index: The prestige value of scientific publications. (Web of Science is the reference index criterion.)
Number of publications:Shows the number of articles published within the scope of SCI (Science Citation Index ) in the last three years while affiliated with BAU.
E:The faculty member's activity in medical education (1-3 points)*.
P: The faculty member's activity in scientific projects (University, TÜBİTAK, Santez, EU, etc.) and R&D studies (1-3 points).
O: The faculty member's activity in scientific organizations (courses, congresses, workshops, hands-on training, conferences, etc.) (1-3 points).
3 points: Clinicians spending one day a week in the faculty of medicine building for research and education and contributing,
2 points: Delivering routine courses with high quality and maintaining a research routine, even if irregularly,
1 point: Making an insufficient contribution to educational and research activities.
Scoring is carried out by the APID Coordination Office and the Dean's Office together with the faculty member. Each faculty member should know their APID index approved by the Dean's Office, have it approved through their head of department or by contacting the office directly, and update the evaluation every three months.
Based on the numerical value obtained from the APID index, the academic performance level of faculty members is categorized into three groups (A-B-C). Academics in basic, internal and surgical departments are ranked among themselves according to their APID values and categorized into these groups. Accordingly, the main objective of this system is to support academics in category C in developing themselves.
In this way, the aim is to contribute both to the academic strength of our faculty and to the personal development of our faculty members. It is important that our faculty members work in full coordination with our APID unit to ensure accurate and complete access to personal academic information.
For the activities related to the APID “Faculty Member Academic Performance Monitoring and Support Systemestablished within the Dean's Office of BAU Faculty of Medicine, first of all:
Each faculty member needs to create a personal academic page based on Google Scholar via the web address (*) below. In this way, all of the faculty member's publications will be entered into the system completely and checked under their own control on pages verified by personal e-mail confirmation. The link to each faculty member's information page is then added to the sections of the BAU Medicine website where our faculty members are introduced. (Please note that the Web of Science h-index value is taken into account in the H-index calculation.)
