School of Foreign Languages - English Preparatory Program

As Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is an institution where instruction is delivered in a foreign language, undergraduate students are required to successfully complete the Preparatory Program. Participation in the Preparatory Program is optional for associate degree (Vocational School) students and Faculty of Health Sciences students.

All our students are required to take the Placement Exam administered during the registration period. Students who answer at least 30 out of 60 questions correctly (net) and achieve B1 (intermediate) level in the writing section become eligible to take the Proficiency Exam, while those who fall below this level are placed in the appropriate level of the Preparatory Program according to their exam results.

To be exempt from the Preparatory Program, undergraduate students and associate degree (Vocational School) students considering vertical transfer must score 60 (sixty) out of 100 (one hundred) in the English Proficiency Exam, while students of American Culture and Literature and English Language Teaching must score 80 (eighty) out of 100 (one hundred).

In addition, students who achieve sufficient scores in the internationally recognized exams listed below and accepted by our University are also exempt from the English Preparatory Program.

TOEFL, YDS / e-YDS / YÖKDİL, PTE and CAE results must be submitted to the University before the academic year begins. Students who succeed in these exams during the year can only begin their faculty studies in the following semester.
