About the Department of Mathematics
The Bahçeşehir University Department of Mathematics and Department of Mathematics and Computer Science first operated within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences between 1999 and 2014.
The Department of Mathematics, which resumed operations within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences in the 2018-2019 academic year, has a quota of a maximum of 10 students with 100% scholarships each year, and the duration of study is four years.
In addition to mathematics subjects such as analysis, algebra, geometry, differential equations, number theory and topology, this program also includes computer subjects such as data structures and algorithms, programming languages, databases and operating systems. The Mathematics Program also responds to the need for qualified, well-trained human resources in the field of software. Our goal as the Department of Mathematics is to educate graduates who, in addition to a strong theoretical mathematics foundation, are equipped with the applications of mathematics and computer skills.
Successful students in this program have the opportunity to pursue a double major or minor in various departments of the engineering faculty, again with a scholarship.
Our graduates can continue their graduate education in mathematics and choose an academic career, or, once they have completed the required pedagogical formation training, they can work as "mathematics teachers" in secondary education institutions, particularly in private schools and Anatolian High Schools that offer instruction in a foreign language. In addition, they can work anywhere in the world as researchers in mathematics and applied mathematics, or as specialists in actuarial, software, computer, finance and IT companies and in data processing centers.
