Our Certificate Programs

BAU Faculty of Law Certificate Programs

Students of our Faculty who successfully complete the courses belonging to the certificate programs listed below during their studies (three courses listed under each certificate must be taken) are entitled to receive a certificate in addition to their Faculty of Law diploma upon graduation.

Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Certificate

Intellectual and industrial property rights occupy an important place in legal practice. Lawyers who wish to work in this field are expected to develop specialized expertise. In order to contribute to the training of specialized legal professionals, the Faculty of Law at Bahçeşehir University offers the Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Certificate Program. Students who successfully complete the courses Industrial Property Law, Law of Intellectual and Artistic Works, and Competition Law offered by our Faculty are awarded the Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Certificate in addition to their diploma.

Maritime Trade Law Certificate

Since ancient times, seas have been at the center of trade. Over the centuries, the importance of maritime activities in trade has not diminished; on the contrary, it has increased. Unlike land-based trade, maritime trade has its own distinctive rules and requires specialized expertise. In addition to the compulsory Maritime Trade Law course taken in the fourth year of the Faculty of Law, this program aims to provide students interested in this field with the opportunity to examine maritime trade from different perspectives and to specialize in this area while still studying at the Faculty. Students who successfully complete the courses Maritime Conventions, Maritime Economics, and Logistics Management in Maritime Transportation offered by our Faculty will be awarded the Maritime Trade Law Certificate.

Family Law Certificate

Students who successfully complete courses examining current issues in family law are awarded the Family Law Certificate. These courses cover topics such as the grounds and consequences of divorce, the statutory property regime known as the participation in acquired property regime, as well as issues related to filiation and guardianship.

Consumer Law Certificate

Students who successfully complete the courses General Principles of Consumer Law, Consumer Contracts, and Protection of Consumers against Advertising are awarded a certificate demonstrating their specialization in Consumer Law.

Commercial Law Certificate

Commercial law is one of the legal fields with a wide scope of application. In legal education, courses related to this field generally focus on theoretical foundations and general principles, and students are expected to develop specialization after graduation when they begin practicing law. The certificate program established within our Faculty, which was launched in the Fall semester of 2022, aims to approach commercial law topics from a practical perspective, to evaluate current developments in company law that shape the future, also considering aspects of technology law, and to develop an understanding of the general principles of capital markets law as a related sub-field. Within this framework, four different courses have been designed, in which students are expected to actively participate in the course activities. Students who successfully complete three of these courses will be awarded the Commercial Law Certificate.

International Trade Law Certificate

In the past few decades, global trade has experienced significant growth, leading to a substantial increase in the importance and application of international trade law. Particularly with the emergence of new trade routes during the pandemic and the increasing participation of new actors in the global trade system, international trade has become one of the priority policy areas of Türkiye. The International Trade Law Certificate Program is designed for students who are interested in legal issues related to international trade, investment, finance, and other commercial transactions. Students who successfully complete the courses International Sale of Goods Contracts, International Trade Law, and International Arbitration will be awarded the International Trade Law Certificate.
