University Admission and Acceptance Policy
BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY APPLICATION, ADMISSION AND PLACEMENT SYSTEM AND ACCESS POLICY FOR FEMALE APPLICANTS
Student admission to higher education institutions in Türkiye is carried out through a centralized selection examination administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The regulations governing the student selection and placement system of the Republic of Türkiye contain no gender-based restrictions or barriers in application and placement procedures. A system based on academic achievement is applied in exam applications and placements, and everyone has equal rights.
While this equality is important, there is no specific system or quota for the application and placement of female students. Universities do not have the right to set gender-based quotas in centralized university application and admission processes independently of this legal regulation.
Within the framework of the development goal of gender equality, Bahçeşehir University systematically monitors each year the rate at which women apply to our university and their admission/entry rates through centralized placement.

BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY APPLYBAU SYSTEM APPLICATION AND ADMISSION POLICY AND PRACTICE AND SUPPORT POLICY FOR FEMALE APPLICANTS
In addition to the scholarships granted by the state during student admissions through the centralized student selection and placement system, Bahçeşehir University also offers a specially designed scholarship system called APPLYBAU.
The APPLYBAU System embraces all characteristics and differences of students and has evaluation criteria that oppose all forms of discrimination, including those based on gender, ethnicity, religion and age.
Within APPLYBAU, Bahçeşehir University is committed to providing equal and equitable opportunities for all applicants and students in accordance with the principles set out in our "Non-Discrimination and Gender Equality Policy".
The following plan addresses issues relating to women's applications, admission, entry and participation in APPLYBAU scholarships, with the aim of eliminating any potential gender-based gaps.
ApplyBAU System Process, Access and Participation Plan
ApplyBAU, introduced by Bahçeşehir University in 2013, is Türkiye's first and most innovative university admission and scholarship model.
Placing importance on students being placed at a university in line with their personal skills, interests, talents and dreams rather than an examination system that measures curriculum-based achievement, Bahçeşehir University has implemented the "Admission / Application – Acceptance" model.
Prospective students request admission from ApplyBAU, taking into account the application dates for the term, before being placed at a university through the national university exam. When requesting admission, they are asked to submit their autobiographies, documents describing their personal characteristics, their talents, project and idea work, and social responsibility activities. When applying, students also indicate the field and degree programs in which they wish to study. Following the evaluation, candidates who meet the scholarship requirements are notified through an "acceptance letter" of the field and degree program in which they should study, independently of their academic achievement. During this process, the committee also has the right to interview students. In this way, students have the chance to receive an education scholarship based on their differences and personal characteristics.
The ApplyBAU system approaches all prospective students as individuals. It embraces all their characteristics and differences and has evaluation criteria that oppose all forms of discrimination, including those based on gender, ethnicity, religion and age.
Since its founding, Bahçeşehir University's vision of gender equality has always guided its philosophy and operations. Bahçeşehir University aims to enable all female students to reach their potential through full and active participation. It is determined to remove all barriers and to help the student community become more self-confident about these issues.
In this sense, while the ApplyBAU system covers all programs at the university, it also contributes to equal opportunity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, fields in which women are underrepresented.
Thanks to this system, in which candidates are included in a different evaluation process during the university exam period, candidates already hold acceptance letters from Bahçeşehir University when making their university preferences. Thus, during the centralized placement preference period, they have the chance to choose our university with a scholarship, using the degree programs for which they have been accepted, through the Student Selection and Placement Center.
Access and Participation Monitoring Results for Female Applicants
Within the APPLYBAU system, Bahçeşehir University systematically monitors female students' scholarship applications and sets annual quotas for female students in each department. This contributes to women's access to the university.

In conclusion, access to and participation in Bahçeşehir University programs by female applicants and students have always been very high. Bahçeşehir University is strongly committed to sustaining these outcomes and has put a number of mechanisms in place for this purpose.
Monitoring and Action Plan
Bahçeşehir University implements a number of procedures and processes to closely and regularly monitor women's access and participation at all stages of their education. Measurements and results are evaluated regularly in order to maintain and improve current levels of successful outcomes and to address fundamental inequalities in access and participation at a very early stage.
These include:
- A monitoring system is in place for women's likelihood of graduation, and female students' graduation rates are tracked.
- Through the BAU Equal Unit, data on women's access and participation throughout all stages of the student lifecycle are evaluated periodically, and potential gaps and barriers in women's application and participation processes, if any, are analyzed along with ways to address them.
- The implementation of the University's Gender Equality Action Plan is regularly monitored and reported.
- The mentorship program for female students is implemented and monitored in partnership with BAU Equal, the BAU Dean of Students Office and the BAU CO-OP Unit.
- The BAU Directorate of Student Resources monitors and reports on scholarship processes for female students in the APPLYBAU scholarship program.
- Awareness activities on gender equality are carried out through workshops, seminars and training programs.
