Capstone Project
Why capstone?
As an outcome of an engineering education, a student should be able to solve and communicate a complex engineering problem in an interdisciplinary environment making creative use of fundamental engineering principles, knowledge and skills that they acquired during their undergraduate program. The capstone project acts as preliminary practice for real-world experiences with focus on good engineering principles, value to society, and innovation.
The process of capstone Project
- The Capstone is a two-semester course taken by students in their final year.
- In the first part, Capstone I (ENM 4991), the student will take theoretical classes (on Team and Project Management, Engineering Design, Engineering Constraints, Product Verification, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
- An exam is given mid-term.
- In addition to taking classes, the student will choose a project from a list of available projects and form a project team.
- A detailed project proposal is presented by the project team at the end of the semester.
- In the second part, Capstone II (ENM4992), the project team continues the practical execution stage of the project following closely the project proposal that was prepared in the previous semester.
