Wood is the Future: Design and Build Seminar Series - International Meeting, Fall 2025
Fire and Fire-Resistant Timber Structures for Living in Sustainable Cities
Tuesday, 11 November 2025
The Bahçeşehir University Wood Structures Application and Research Center continues to be the hub of an extensive communication network that brings together manufacturers, designers, inspectors and practitioners in the timber construction sector, as well as young architects and engineers who are an indispensable part of our future, and continues to meet, learn and share.
In the fall of 2025, the Center began organizing a series of seminars that will bring together all stakeholders in the sector. Within this framework, the seminar "Fire and Fire-Resistant Timber Structures for Living in Sustainable Cities" will be held on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, between 09:30 and 17:00 at the BAU South Campus Fazıl Say Stage .
The seminar aims to raise awareness and deepen knowledge about designing and building with timber as a sustainable building material. Today, sustainability and the development of building materials are among the most important issues on the construction industry's agenda. Timber, as a renewable and versatile material, plays a critical role in overcoming these challenges.
One of the main focal points of the seminar will betimber structures, innovation and fire safety . The event will address topics such as fire-resistant design strategies, the use of fire-retardant materials, and the development and implementation of bio-based fire-retardant solutions. These innovations are of great importance in ensuring that timber structures meet modern safety standards while maintaining environmental responsibility.
In this seminar, organized in collaboration with the BAU Wood Structures Application and Research Center, the BAU Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Finland-based company Nordtreat, we invite you to rediscover timber as a modern building material and to explore innovative design, fire safety and specialized solutions that support sustainable construction.
Join us to be inspired by the future and fascinating design possibilities of sustainable and fire-resistant construction, and to hear about exemplary applications from their designers and practitioners.
