FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT OF CINEMA AND TELEVISION
The primary aim of university education is to develop universal awareness, problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Guided by the motto of universality and flexibility, our University aims to enable students not only to become communication professionals in line with international standards but also to become agenda-setting, entrepreneurial, critical, creative, conciliatory, specialized and pioneering individuals.
DEPARTMENT OF CINEMA AND TELEVISION
With its comprehensive curriculum, the Bahçeşehir University Department of Cinema and Television offers a four-year education designed to provide students with knowledge, insight and perspective in line with the development of film production practices from the past to the present. While providing our students with both theoretical and practical education in film production, we also aim to give them experience in effectively using the distribution and exhibition tools that have evolved with today's technology. Our interdisciplinary approach brings together the skills that enable students, regardless of their chosen area of specialization, to take advantage of all the opportunities they will encounter in their professional lives.
Throughout their four-year education, our students will examine the cultural impact of film, television and the internet on societies while also creating film and interactive digital media works. Along the way, we aim to teach our students the creative language of the moving image by making use of the opportunities offered by technology, to establish the theoretical foundation that will enable them to develop and transform this language, and also to convey the change brought about by digitalization, educating them as competent professionals in their careers accordingly. In our education, where art and technological progress meet, we have changed our course content in this direction. While our practical courses keep pace with technological developments that are renewed every day, the content of our theoretical courses has also been renewed to generate discussions on new production, narrative and viewing practices.
OBJECTIVE
Our priority is to educate professionals who recognize the transformation of the cinema and television sector in Türkiye as well as throughout the world, adapt themselves to this transformation, and thereby shape production in these sectors.

MISSION
The history of cinema should be considered together with the history of technological developments. With each new technology, cinema has gained a new style of expression. Today, cultural production is organized according to innovations in communication technologies. Digital technology has changed the conditions of the traditional film industry. Technological development affects our cultural world more and more each day. Changing conditions open up an independent space of production for artists and change film viewing practices. In the digital age, audiovisual productions made with mobile phones reach more people through ever-increasing social media platforms. In short, it has become possible for any idea to emerge as a film or a television program. As the Department of Cinema and Television of our Faculty, we keep pace with this transformation through an interdisciplinary education program that aims to enable our students to follow this transformation in the era of digital change. Türkiye is the world's second most important exporter of television series after the United States. Our mission is to educate young cinema and television professionals who have the knowledge and talent to keep pace with such a dynamic sector, who can grasp the sectoral transformation and needs not only in Türkiye but throughout the world, and who can guide themselves and the sector accordingly.
