About Us

The purpose of the Bahçeşehir University Human Rights Application and Research Center is defined in its founding regulation as conducting both theoretical and practice-oriented research and organizing educational activities in order to contribute to the recognition, protection, implementation, and advancement of human rights and freedoms. The aforementioned regulation also stipulates the establishment of an official website for the Center to present its activities and to include developments in the field of human rights. Although the Center has commenced its activities, its institutional structuring process is still ongoing in order to become fully operational. For this reason, the creation of a website has been considered an appropriate first step among the Center’s priorities. Today, it is possible to access the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights instantly, and there are numerous sources of information available alongside the Court’s official website. However, the same cannot be said for the United Nations Committees—nine of which accept individual applications. In this respect, it has been considered important that the website serve as a reliable source of information on international human rights developments, and this has been identified as a primary objective.

Our greatest aspiration is for the Center to become a successful and trusted source of knowledge in the field of human rights.
