About the Department of Music

The Department of Music at the Bahçeşehir University Conservatory offers a comprehensive educational program that aims to equip students with the competence to conduct music and folklore research, as well as to enable aspiring artists to produce original and creative works as performers and composers in various musical genres (Turkish music, Western classical music, jazz, film music, theater music, and advertising music). This program encourages in-depth knowledge in both the theoretical and practical aspects of music, while enabling aspiring artists to actively engage in creative processes and express their artistic ideas more effectively through music. By using music as a means of communication, our students develop the ability to produce innovative and creative works in both traditional and modern musical forms.

The Department aims to provide the necessary technical knowledge and artistic foundation in core areas such as instrumental performance, music theory, composition, and arrangement. This process not only ensures technical proficiency but also promotes the development of students’ artistic expression and their ability to interpret music within cultural and aesthetic contexts. Our aspiring artists engage with diverse cultures and musical traditions through a musical perspective, build a broad repertoire, and acquire the skills necessary to participate effectively in both national and international music environments.

The Department offers a curriculum aligned with contemporary musical understanding, enabling students to become active artists at both national and international levels. In addition, aspiring artists are provided with practical opportunities such as performance experiences, studio work, and stage applications to acquire the competencies required to pursue professional careers in music. This integrated educational approach not only deepens students’ knowledge of the technical and theoretical aspects of music but also fosters artistic freedom and innovation in their modes of expression.
