Education in molecular biology and genetics provides a strong foundation for understanding all forms of life, from bacteria and plants to complex vertebrate systems. Emerging technologies in personalized medicine, agriculture and even solutions to environmental pollution are fundamentally based on the molecular functions of cells. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Bahçeşehir University offers instruction in the required courses in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, aging biology, computational biology and programming, as well as elective courses for specialization in fields such as cancer genetics, population genetics and genetic engineering. To prepare for the fields described above, our students are trained with the most up-to-date knowledge, skills, concepts and theories in their areas of interest, while also gaining experience in research methods in our laboratories.

The Molecular Biology and Genetics program encourages collaboration with related programs at international universities in Türkiye and around the world. Most of our students benefit from international education and internship opportunities. In recent years, our students have had the opportunity to study abroad in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Canada, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium through our institutional collaborations and the Erasmus, World Exchange and BAU International programs.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics has a bright future both globally and in Türkiye. Our graduates have the opportunity to work in both public institutions and the private sector (such as the pharmaceutical, biomedical, biotechnology, agriculture and food sectors, research and development units, and environmental protection and quality control departments). In addition, graduates of the department can work as researchers in research institutes, in administrative positions, or as genetics specialists in the medical sector (such as research laboratories in hospitals, clinical genetics departments, pediatric genetics departments and in vitro fertilization units), and if they wish, they can continue their graduate education in Türkiye or abroad to pursue an academic career.
