Turkish and Foreign Languages Application and Research Center - Levels
LEVELS:
The levels of our courses have been designed in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). These levels and their descriptions are as follows:
A1: A student who completes this level can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and simple sentences that express concrete needs. They can introduce themselves and others, ask questions about other people's personal details (such as where they live and whom they know) and answer such questions. They can communicate in a simple way provided that the people they are talking to speak slowly and clearly and are ready to help.
A2: A student who completes this level can understand sentences and frequently used expressions in direct speech (for example, information about themselves, their family, shopping, work and immediate surroundings). They can communicate in simple and routine situations and give simple, direct accounts of familiar and routine topics. Using simple language, they can describe where they come from, their education, their immediate surroundings and matters of immediate need.
B1: A student who completes this level can understand the main points of familiar topics such as school, work and leisure when clear standard language is used. They can handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in places where Turkish is spoken. They can express themselves simply and coherently on familiar topics and personal areas of interest. They can describe events and experiences, dreams, hopes and goals, and briefly give reasons and explanations for their opinions.
B2: A student who completes this level can understand the content of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics as well as discussions in their own field. In an ordinary conversation, they can interact spontaneously and fluently with a Turkish speaker without much difficulty for either party. They can express themselves clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics. They can express a personal opinion on a current issue and list the advantages and disadvantages of different options.
