Exemption Conditions from the Preparatory Program
Exemption Requirements
Dear International Students,
If you have been admitted to an associate, undergraduate, or graduate program taught in Turkish at Bahçeşehir University, you must meet one of the following conditions to be exempt from the Turkish Preparatory Program:
- Bahçeşehir University Turkish Proficiency Exam: You must score at least 60 if you are an associate or undergraduate student, or at least 65 if you are a graduate student, in the exam organized by the Bahçeşehir University School of Foreign Languages.
- Turkish Proficiency Certificate from a YÖK-affiliated Institution: You must submit a certificate that meets the following criteria:
- The exam must be named "Turkish Proficiency Exam" (Türkçe Yeterlik Sınavı) and must be taken face-to-face. The original certificate must clearly state that it was issued based on the results of a "Turkish Proficiency Exam." Placement tests, certificates of attendance, or diploma exams do not qualify for exemption.
- Please note that Bahçeşehir University does not accept online exam scores.
- The certificate must specify both the level and the score. The level must be at least B2. The score must be at least 60 for associate/undergraduate students, and at least 65 for graduate students.
- Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS): You must hold a certificate showing at least a B2 level from the TYS exam, which is approved by the Bahçeşehir University Senate and administered at official test centers.
- ÖSYM E-YDTS Exam: You must hold a certificate showing at least a B2 level from the E-YDTS exam administered at official test centers by ÖSYM.
- High School Graduation (MEB): You must have studied for and completed your last three years of education at a high school affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB), inside or outside of Turkey, where the language of instruction is Turkish.
- Undergraduate Graduation: You must have successfully graduated from an undergraduate program where the language of instruction is Turkish.
Important Notes:
- Certificates that do not meet these criteria will not be accepted. We kindly ask all students to review these requirements carefully.
- For the internationally recognized exams mentioned above, students must take these exams inside state university buildings to qualify for exemption.
