Information Security Technology
Today, the process of digitalization is fundamentally transforming the lives and business practices of individuals, institutions, and governments. However, this digital transformation also brings significant security risks; threats such as cyberattacks, data breaches, and identity theft are becoming increasingly complex and destructive.
In this environment, information security has become a priority not only for the information technology sector but also for institutions and organizations across nearly all fields. In response to this need, the Bahçeşehir University Information Security Technology Department offers a contemporary and interdisciplinary undergraduate program aimed at educating qualified and versatile individuals equipped to ensure the security of the digital world.
The objective of this program is to educate professionals who are equipped with technical knowledge and skills, uphold ethical responsibility, think analytically, and produce holistic solutions to security risks. Students are provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as network security, system security, software security, cryptography, attack analysis, personal data protection, and cyber law. The program aims to ensure that graduates acquire competencies at a level that enables them to contribute directly to the sector upon graduation.
The curriculum is structured to establish a strong technical foundation beginning in the first year. In their first year, students gain core scientific competencies through courses such as mathematics, physics, introduction to algorithms and programming, communication skills, and academic reporting. In subsequent years, they strengthen their professional skills through more specialized field courses.
Major courses within the program include “Introduction to Cyber Security,” “Information Security and Ethics,” “Software Security,” “Introduction to Database Management Systems,” “Introduction to Embedded Systems Programming,” “Internet Law and Artificial Intelligence,” “Protection of Personal Rights,” “Computer Networks,” and “Software Testing and Quality Assurance.”
Graduates of the Information Security Technology Department have broad employment opportunities in both public institutions and the private sector. They may serve in positions such as cyber security specialist, network and system security engineer, information security consultant, personal data protection officer, and information security manager in sectors including finance, healthcare, defense industry, energy, telecommunications, education, and e-commerce.
Through Bahçeşehir University’s vision of internationalization, strong industry collaborations, applied education model, and distinguished academic staff, students graduate not only with a diploma but also as individuals who assume responsibility for shaping the security of the digital world. This program aims to contribute to both Türkiye’s and the world’s digital future by educating individuals who view information security not only as a profession but also as an ethical stance and a field of social contribution.
