Therapy is a collaborative treatment process between the psychologist and the client that enables people to make sense of their mental processes and emotions (American Psychological Association, 2020). In the therapy process, the individual is called “client”. Therapy helps to resolve mental health difficulties and helps the client to understand future difficulties and past experiences. Thus, by supporting the difficulties experienced, the client maintains his/her daily functionality in a healthy way. In this process, therapy support can be provided in different ways such as family, couple, group or individual therapy depending on the needs of the individuals. Individual therapy consists of one-on-one, goal-oriented, structured interviews between the client and the therapist, based on a relationship of trust. Group therapy, on the other hand, allows clients with similar experiences to come together. It provides an opportunity to explore interpersonal experiences. Sharing emphasizes both the experience of belonging to a group and the feeling of not being alone. Couples therapy provides an opportunity to look at and resolve problems from the perspective of both parties for a healthier relationship. Family therapy provides an opportunity to improve functioning for each individual in the family.
