In the Department of Periodontology, theoretical and hands-on training courses are offered and scientific thinking abilities of students improve. Our primary goal in Periodontology is to raise adaptable physicians who can provide advanced health services to society; are open to professional development and understand the importance of continuous education. They are expected to follow current technological developments; do research; be scientific, productive and respectful to medical and ethical principles; be at peace with themselves and their environment; make their own decisions and take responsibility for those.
Our students who were educated and graduated in this Department will become physicians that can; have knowledge about the prevention, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment methods of periodontal diseases and will be able to perform basic periodontal treatment interventions within the scope of periodontology.
Our students who get their doctorate and major in Department of Periodontology will be able to perform advanced periodontal treatments such as surgical periodontal treatments, dental implant applications, tissue engineering, as well as conducting and producing scientific research in their field.
After their graduation, Dentistry students who wisht to continue their education in the Department of Periodontology Dentistry can apply to the Doctor of Science in Prosthodontics (Ph.D.) programs in Graduate School or be placed in Periodontology Specialization programs by taking the Specialization in Dentistry exam (DUS). Our colleagues who have the title of Doctor of Science or Specialist Dentist can serve in private or public health institutions or continue their careers as academicians within universities.
