Pedodontics takes not only the treatment of teeth but also the prevention of caries and preventive dentistry practices as the main objective.
The most important mission of the Pedodontics Department is to raise our students to treat pediatric patients with the most up-to-date and ideal areas of use, information, and equipment. In addition to theoretical courses, Pedodontics Department also has clinical practice courses at the undergraduate level where students perform preventive dentistry applications such as fissure sealants and fluoride applications; Restorative and endodontic treatments of caries in primary and permanent teeth of children are also performed.
In postgraduate education alongside the treatment of healthy children in clinical conditions, the treatment of special patient groups under clinical or general anesthesia is also taught. Treatment of dental traumas, child prostheses, habit breakers, and preventive orthodontic applications are also given at the postgraduate level.
Our main criterion in undergraduate and graduate education in the Department of Pedodontics is to train dentists who adhere to ethical values, follow current and technological developments, and adopt scientific-based treatments and practices as a principle.
After their graduation Dentistry students who want to continue their education in Pedodontics can apply to related programs in Graduate School or be placed in the Pedodontics Specialization programs by taking the Specialization in Dentistry exam (DUS). Our colleagues who have the title of Doctor of Science or Specialist can serve in private or public health institutions or continue their careers as academicians within universities.
