Department of Pedodontics

Pediatric Dentistry involves dental growth and development, dental health and disorders, and treatment and follow-up of children, including those with special needs, from infancy through adolescence.

Pediatric Dentistry also involves restorative or prosthetic comprehensive treatment of caries, trauma or developmental disorders that may occur in primary and permanent dentition and preventive orthodontic applications. Besides, Pedodontics is not only the treatment of teeth but also caries prevention and preventive applications.

The most important mission of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry is to educate our students with the knowledge and equipment that they can treat pediatric patients in the most current and ideal way. Department of Pediatric Dentistry offers; restorative and endodontic treatment of caries in children 's primary  and permanent dentition, preventive dentistry applications such as fissure sealants and fluoride applications with  both theoretical courses  and clinical practice courses at undergraduate level.

In the post-graduate education, besides treatment of healthy children under clinical conditions the treatment of children with special needs under clinical or general anesthesia are also included in the curriculum.

The management of traumatologic dental injuries, pediatric prosthetic applications, habit breakers and preventive orthodontic applications are given at the post-graduate level.

Our main criterion in undergraduate and post-graduate education in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry is to educate students who are committed to ethical values, following current scientific practices regarding technological advancements as principle.
