Summer Training

All Computer Engineering students are required to have AT LEAST 1 internship of AT LEAST 30 working days on a topic related to Computer Engineering during their undergraduate program.

The steps that should be followed regarding the internship is as given in the flow chart below.

Internship responsible for the Computer Engineering department is Assist.Prof.Tarkan Aydın. You must use your official Bahçeşehir University e-mail address in correspondence.

NOTE: Internships which are not processed by this procedure will be REJECTED.

NOTE: The IF-02 form must be sent AT LEAST 3 WORKING DAYS before the start of the internship. IF-02 forms with old dates than the current date, IF-02 forms whose internship start dates are older than the form’s date will NOT be procesed (Do not send seperate e-mails with different subjects. Instead reply the initial e-mail thread).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

• “Do you accept online internships?”

Due to the Covid19 pandemic, both face-to-face (classical) and online internships will be accepted.

• “Am I obliged to make the internship during summer?”

It is highly recommended that you make the internship during the summer semester. However, with the permission of the internship responsible an internship either during a semester or between two semesters are acceptable.

Internships during the course period have a negative impact on both the courses and the internship if you have a course at the same time.

However, if you have a maximum of 2 classes per week during the semester, you can do your internship for the rest of the week. (eg: If you have 2 days of class on a weekday, you can do the internship for the remaining 3 days).

In this case, you have to send the information of the courses you took during the week to the internship supervisor at the beginning of the weekly course schedule and the internship procedure.

Capstone courses and social elective courses conducted entirely online are outside this limit. But you need to share this information in your curriculum.

• I am about to graduate (i.e., I only have internship to graduate). Do I have to follow the after internship part of the internship procedure to the latter?

In this case, after submitting your internship report, notify the internship responsible about your gradation status. Your internship will be handled between semesters with an additional procedure.

• “Can I make the internship in a company outside of Turkey?”

Yes, but in this case the internship insurance procedure will be different. Please contact the Directorate of Personal regarding the insurance procedure for an internship in a company located outside of Turkey.

•  “Can I make more than one internship? Can the internship be longer than 30 working days?”

Yes, but these additions will not have any effect on your mandatory internship.

• “When am I required to submit the internship report?”

The “after internship” part of the internship flow chart process is expected to be fulfilled during the semester just after the internship has finished. Internships whose reports are not delivered within 2 semesters after the end of the internship will be automatically rejected.

• “My internship has been rejected. What am I supposed to do??

You are expected to make a new internship in a different company or a different department of any company where you’ve previously finished an internship.

• “I’m a transfer student from another university/department. Will my internship from my previous university/department be accepted by Bahcesehir University Computer Engineering Department?”

The internship(s) you’ve finished before being transferred to BAU Computer Engineering Department will be evaluated during your transfer procedure. Depending on the content, length, quality of your internship it could either be accepted or rejected. In case your previous internship is rejected, you are required to have a new internship as described on this page.

•  “I have been working at a company for quite a while now. Will my part-time/full-time work in this company can be accepted as an internship?”

Normally no, but you it can be accepted by the approval of the internship responsible.
