Internship
Every Computer Engineering student is required to complete an internship AT LEAST ONCE, for AT LEAST 30 working days, on a subject related to Computer Engineering during the undergraduate program.
The steps to be followed in the internship are shown in the flowchart below.

Frequently Asked Questions About Internships
- ““Are online internships accepted?”
During the Covid-19 pandemic, both face-to-face (traditional) and online internships are accepted.
- “Do I have to complete my internship during the summer term?”
It is recommended that the internship be completed during the summer term. However, due to constraints, it may be completed during the academic semesters or between the Fall and Spring semesters with the approval of the internship coordinator.
- “Can I do an internship during the semester?”
- Internships completed during the academic term have a negative effect on both your courses and your internship if you have classes at the same time.
- However, if you have classes on at most 2 days a week during the semester, you may do your internship on the remaining weekdays (e.g., if you have classes on 2 weekdays, you may do your internship on the remaining 3 days).
- In this case, you must send information on the courses you take during the week, together with your weekly course schedule, to the internship coordinator at the beginning of the internship procedure.
- Capstone courses and fully online social elective courses are excluded from this limit. However, you must still include this information in your course schedule.
- ““I am eligible for graduation (meaning only my internship remains). Do I need to follow the ‘end of internship’ part of this procedure?”
In this case, after submitting your internship report at the end of your internship, inform the internship coordinator of your graduation status. Your internship will be approved through an additional procedure between semesters, without the need to register for a course.
- “Can I complete my internship at a company outside Türkiye?”
Yes, but in this case you must consult the Directorate of Personnel Affairs about how your social security (SGK) procedures will be handled.
- “Can I do more than one internship? Can I do an internship of more than 30 working days?”
Yes, but these additional internships will not affect your compulsory internship.
- “In which semester do I need to submit the report of my internship?”
You must complete the post-internship steps in the flowchart in the first semester after your internship ends. Internships not submitted within 2 academic semesters after their completion will be automatically rejected.
- “My internship was rejected. What do I need to do?”
If your internship is rejected, you must complete another internship at a different company (or in another department of the company where you did your previous internship) following the same internship procedure.
- “I am a student who has transferred from another university/department. Will my internship at my previous university/department be accepted by Bahçeşehir University Computer Engineering?”
Internships completed in your previous department before BAU Computer Engineering are evaluated during your course equivalence (adaptation) process and may be accepted or rejected depending on their content, duration and quality. If rejected, you must complete a new internship from scratch as described above.
- “I am a lateral/vertical transfer student. Will my internship at my previous university/department be accepted by Bahçeşehir University Computer Engineering?”
Please see the answer to the previous question.
- “I have been working at a company for some time. Will my work at this company be accepted as an internship?”
Generally, no. However, it may be accepted with the approval of the internship coordinator.
