Directorate of Human Resources - Internship Directive
ATTENTION TO ALL BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WHO WILL UNDERTAKE AN INTERNSHIP!
Dear Students, it is a legal requirement for students undertaking an internship to be insured during their internship dates. Insurance procedures are carried out by the Internship Procedures Unit of our University's Directorate of Human Resources. In line with current legal regulations, information on how the insurance procedures for our students undertaking internships work, the general points to be considered and the procedures to be followed is provided below.
Students who will undertake an internship must apply by sending the required documents in PDF format to the Directorate of Human Resources, Internship Procedures Unit, at staj@hur.bau.edu.tr no earlier than 1 month before and no later than 5 days before the internship start date. For example, a student whose internship start date is 16.01.2023 must send the internship documents between 17.12.2022 and 09.01.2023 to staj@hur.bau.edu.tr . Due to the way the Social Security Institution (SGK) system operates, internship insurance procedures can by no means be carried out if more than one month remains before the internship start date.
If the insurance registration procedures are not completed, the legal requirement will not be fulfilled, and the internships of students whose insurance registration has not been completed will be invalid. Therefore, timely notification is important.
As of 05.12.2022, applications made through channels other than staj@hur.bau.edu.tr will not be accepted. Internship insurance applications will be accepted only during working hours on weekdays (08:30-17:00). Applications made outside working hours or on weekends will not be processed, so you must reapply during working hours.
After the online application, the SGK internship insurance employment entry declaration sent to the student's e-mail address is forwarded by the student to the company where the internship will take place. If there is any change in the internship dates after the student receives the SGK employment entry declaration, the student must reapply to the Directorate of Human Resources, Internship Procedures Unit, with a new company letter showing this change.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
• Copy of National ID Card
• Photograph (1 copy)
• Residence certificate or a utility bill registered in the student's name
• Internship requirement form of the Faculty
• A stamped and signed letter from the place of internship (Petition-1 or Petition-2 may be completed as appropriate; the company stamp is mandatory), or a petition on the letterhead of the company where the internship will take place or bearing the company stamp is accepted.
Students undertaking a full-time internship must apply with Petition-1, and students undertaking a part-time internship must apply with Petition-2, indicating how many days per week they will intern.
• Declaration of Undertaking: For our students subject to internship requirements in higher education, it is important to first determine whether they are dependents of their families before submitting a registration notification to the Social Security Institution. For this reason, it is mandatory for the Internship Procedures Unit to obtain a declaration and undertaking from students in order to avoid any penalties in the future.
Depending on whether or not the student is a dependent of their family, two different procedures will need to be carried out by the Internship Procedures Unit.
Declaration and Undertaking-1: To be completed by students who receive health benefits through their families as dependents.
Declaration and Undertaking-2: To be completed by students who do not receive health benefits through their families and do not benefit from health services.
• Work Permit Exemption Document: International students who will undertake an internship are expected to obtain a work permit exemption document; students whose documents are not received cannot be registered as interns. Detailed information about the process is available at https://emuafiyet.csgb.gov.tr/welcome . The exemption application must be made for internships to be conducted within Türkiye.
Note: If any of the documents is missing, the internship will not be started. The relevant legal text is presented below for your attention. We kindly ask you to read it.
Sincerely,
