Pilotage Department Advisory Board Event

Our President and Vice President hosted the Pilotage Department Advisory Board event with the Director of the School of Applied Sciences, our Co-Op Director, senior managers and captain pilots from Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, SunExpress Airlines, AJET Airlines, Corendon Airlines, Turkish Airline Pilots Association (TALPA), managers from Istanbul Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, TUSAŞ, DHMİ, HerdemAviation and AFA Flight School with which we continue our flights. In the meeting, we came together and talked ideas about the current status of airports and airlines, employment and discussions on ideas regarding this, institutional agreements, future aviation, university and aviation company collaborations.

Agenda items

1: What is the purpose of the KAAN project, what generation of fighter aircraft has it been defined as and what needs is it being developed to meet? When did KAAN make its first flight and what were its results? What are KAAN's contributions to the Turkish Defense Industry and what role will it play in Turkey's air defense strategy? How will KAAN affect the domestic defense industry ecosystem? If there is a chance to stay in touch with our Engineering Departments, to what extent can artificial intelligence and autonomous systems be developed for KAAN? (TUSAŞ)

2: The sector's 10-year demand for pilot training, protocols that have been completed and are planned to be completed, and the issues we need to develop as a department (Flight Operations Managers, TALPA Managers and Captain Pilots)

3: General Status of Airports and the development trend of aviation in the next 10 years. The impact of using 3 runways at the same time at Istanbul Airport on the development potential (DHMİ).

4: The protocol process and the needs of the sector for the Aviation Management department, which has been applied for to be opened. Discussion of the working areas of aviation management graduates and how the process will be carried out with the university (Istanbul Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, TGS Ground Services Inc.).

5: What needs to be done to open the aircraft body engine section and the sector's need for aircraft maintenance technicians (UTED General President).

6: Discussion of the number of Air Traffic Controllers working in Turkey and the total employment expectations in the coming years and the potential for opening departments. (Air Traffic Controllers).

7: Things to consider to increase our awareness on social media. Discussion of the need for different departments in the aviation field and how to better structure the connection with the sector (Murat Herdem)
