Department of Business Administration

Considering that the 21st-century business world is highly dynamic and competitive, the competencies of future managers will not be limited to professional knowledge. Social and ethical responsibilities will become as important as analytical thinking skills and proficiency in information technologies. The Bahçeşehir University Department of Business Administration aims to educate managers who can make a difference anywhere in the world with their leadership qualities and generate solutions to the problems of our country and the world. Our program stands out with its extensive and distinguished academic staff and the strong industry collaborations it has established. Our curriculum includes courses that provide the competencies required by the contemporary business world in many areas such as finance, accounting, management and organization, marketing and human resources. Great importance is placed on enabling our students to get to know the business world while they are still studying. In addition to the branded courses offered within the CO-OP education model, the seminars and certificate programs organized each semester make a great contribution to the professional, social and intellectual development of young people. Our program provides students with the equipment necessary to pursue careers in national and international companies and to succeed as entrepreneurs. Our graduates make a difference anywhere in the world with their managerial knowledge and skills and their innovative and critical thinking abilities.

The Bahçeşehir University Department of Business Administration is accredited by ACCA UK (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), an international organization for finance and accounting professionals. Through the accredited courses they take at BAU, our graduates may be exempt from certain modules of the ACCA certification exam.

Objective

To educate highly specialized future managers who are able to do business at an international level, speak foreign languages and are aligned with the demands of the real sector.

Program

To graduate from Bahçeşehir University, students must complete a course load of 130 credits. During the first two years, our students take the core courses required for business administration (such as economics, accounting, statistics and mathematics). All courses in the first two years are mandatory. Beginning in the third year, students start taking elective courses in addition to the mandatory courses required for the field. Third-year electives are General Elective courses, which aim to broaden students' worldview and provide additional skills (such as foreign languages, philosophy, history and music). In the fourth year, after deciding on the area of specialization within business administration (such as finance, accounting or marketing), students take specialization courses in this area as departmental electives. Students may also take the COOP courses described below as electives if they wish.

Mission of the Department of Business Administration

The Business Administration Program educates future managers and entrepreneurs who are inquisitive, capable of problem-solving and decision-making, adaptable to global conditions, effective users of information and communication technologies, aware of contributing value to the society they live in, and sensitive to individual and social differences.

Advantages of Being a Bahçeşehir Student 

I) Our University is located in a highly advantageous area and has a very strong academic staff composed of faculty members recognized across Türkiye.

II) A student admitted to Bahçeşehir University may, if they wish, complete the Preparatory School in Washington, study the first and second years in Türkiye, and then benefit from the exchange program in the third year at the BAU Berlin Department of Business Administration, provided that they meet the required criteria.

In addition, Bahçeşehir University has student exchange agreements with more than 50 universities worldwide, and our students may also benefit from the Erasmus program if they wish. The University also has special agreements with Syracuse University and the University of San Diego in the USA, and our students can complete part of their education at these universities.

III) Bahçeşehir University is the first university in Türkiye to put university-industry collaboration into practice in a truly meaningful way. This collaboration is carried out within the framework of the COOP program.

Within the COOP program, senior executives of the real sector companies and banks we partner with come to the University for one semester (14 weeks) to teach students how work is done in their companies, and they also provide on-site training by taking students to their companies. Before graduation, Bahçeşehir students gain extensive knowledge of how work is done in the real sector and the financial sector. Current COOP partners of our department include Anadolu Sigorta, Denizbank, Boyner, TAV and Kuveyt Türk.

IV) Bahçeşehir University has Türkiye's most advanced finance research center (BFRC). The center has 12 Bloomberg and 24 Matriks-connected terminals, and Mtrade5 and Metastock Technical Analysis software are also installed on the computers. In particular, some finance courses are held in this environment, where students can monitor real-time market (stock exchange) movements from the terminals. The center is open to our students 24 hours a day.

Career Opportunities

Our Career Center helps graduating students find jobs. Our graduates currently work at leading real sector and financial companies in Türkiye, some of them as senior executives. As mentioned above, Bahçeşehir University offers students several important advantages in finding jobs in the future. These are:

1) The opportunity to establish direct contact with the real sector and its senior executives while still studying, thanks to the COOP program

2) The international experience gained by completing part of their education abroad (BAU-Berlin or BAU-USA)

3) An education that is as strong in practice as it is in theory (for example, our students have the opportunity to learn programs such as Bloomberg, which brokerage firms and banks require, comprehensively while still studying)
