Photography and Video - Why POV?
Gaining work experience is undoubtedly one of the biggest factors that help you mature in the sector you will work in later. Moreover, gaining this experience while you are still studying will lay a solid foundation for the steps you take in the future. In other words, working while studying, even if it means deleting the hobbies section of your CV later on, means combining the theories you learn in your education with practice and taking them one step further. In many projects where I worked as director of photography, I ran into problems every time, and I believe I gained this kind of work experience while still at the start of the road.
Arınç Arısoy, POV 1st Year
Since there is no limit to learning, I continue my education by making use of the opportunities and projects the school offers, both to learn and to produce, and to improve myself. I happily combine the qualities of an artist and a student. Since I had no education in art, before starting school I had questions about how to name or define the work I did. Now, inspired by the courses I take, I can foresee how to go beyond my earlier work. With permission, I can also attend courses in other departments in addition to my own. I was never a very hardworking student, but learning about topics I am curious about from instructors with different visions and attending their classes has made me see this school as a gift given to me. Thank you again.
Eda Emridağ, POV 1st Year
The best thing the school has given us was, first of all, meeting my fiancé Eren :) Being with someone who does the same job makes life much easier. After graduating together, we opened the agency where we now work, and we produce good work together with graduates like us. Beyond this, the presence and support of our instructors who guided us cannot be underestimated. Even now, they are just a phone call away :)
Özge Morkoç, POV Class of 2014
My work experience at the school had a great impact on my perspective on human relations. Communicating with more people and being involved in the process of finding solutions affected me positively. In terms of education, it made me more enthusiastic academically. It made me think of work as a forward-looking experience and a big part of personal development. It also helped me learn to do many tasks at the same time, which in turn made me work in a more planned way.
Özlem Özçelik, POV 2nd Year Student, Work-Study Scholarship
I have been working in two studios of my own since 2000. For me, the school's contribution has been not "how do I succeed at my work" but "how do I take my work to a different dimension."
Oğuzhan Sarı, POV 3rd Year Student
I have been working part-time at a Digital Advertising Agency for 3 years. However tiring it is to manage school and work together, it is not very hard because I love the agency and everyone helps with my classes, and since the instructors support our working, everything is easy. Working outside actually adds a plus, because when the school gives an assignment, you know what it corresponds to in business life. In this respect, the business world and school complement each other.
Berrin Seyirci, POV 2nd Year Student
I can honestly say that the reason I am studying at university is entirely to be able to go abroad more easily. That is why Bahçeşehir was exactly the university I needed to be at from the very beginning. Last semester, the opening of my department, Photography and Video, at the Berlin Campus, together with our scholarships remaining valid, was reason enough for me to go. 'Germany' may not sound very attractive, but in the end all I wanted was the experience, and suddenly I found myself in the middle of Kreuzberg. Those were the best 25 days of my life so far. I came back having gained far more than I expected, both culturally and in terms of fun, having seen more than I had to see and having met wonderful people. Now it has been announced that our department has opened at the Rome campus and that our scholarships will be valid there too, for a whole semester. Several of my classmates and I are very excited to go.
Melike Müge Şahin, POV 3rd Year
By working while studying, you see what kind of work you want to do and get an idea about the industry. This helps you choose what you want to do in the future more accurately and give yourself a better direction after graduation.
