Transportation Application and Research Center

The Transportation Application and Research Center, established within Bahçeşehir University and inaugurated on 16 April 2008 by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Binali YILDIRIM, conducts project, education and research activities in the fields of Urban Systems, Transportation Planning and Infrastructure.

Today, the rapidly growing population and the demand it creates lead to disruptions, particularly in transportation services. These problems are mainly observed in large cities where population and employment are concentrated. Such service problems result in losses of labor and resources. In order to prevent these losses and develop scientific solutions, cooperation has been established with the relevant central and local authorities in our education, project and research activities on transportation and traffic, within a transportation-focused, multidisciplinary approach, with a view to increasing our effectiveness. The UYGAR Center fulfills an important coordination role by bringing together all relevant private sector organizations, central government, local administrations, non-governmental organizations and universities to enable many joint projects.

To this end, in September of the 2008-2009 academic year, under the direction of our Center, theMaster's Program in Urban Systems and Transportation Managementwas launched. In addition, with the aim of training the highly qualified intermediate workforce needed by private and public institutions in our country's economy, industry and social fields, as well as other service sectors, it is planned to launch, within the Vocational School during the same period, theRailwayandHighway Managementprograms.
