Department of Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry was established within the Internal Medical Sciences of the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Sibel Çakır continues to serve as Head of Department. The department has 1 Visiting Faculty Member and 2 Research Assistants (DSÜ). The activities of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry are led by Prof. Dr. Özgür Öner.

Theoretical training takes place at the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine on the Göztepe campus, while practical training is carried out at the Psychiatry outpatient clinic of Göztepe Medical Park Hospital and at Moodist Psychiatry and Neurology Hospital.

In practical training, our students are expected to acquire basic knowledge and skills in areas such as general psychiatric evaluation, examination, mental status examination, approach to psychiatric emergencies and psychopharmacology. Case discussions and literature hours are held, and students can take part in the research carried out in the Department of Psychiatry. Our academic staff have significant research published internationally. Joint projects are currently being carried out with the Internal Medical Sciences and Basic Sciences, with student participation.
