The Jean Monnet Chair on Feminist Epistemic Justice in the EU and Beyond (FEJUST) proudly presents its significant contribution to feminist scholarship with the publication of a special issue in FE Dergi: Feminist Critique Journal. This landmark special issue, published in Turkish, serves as an extraordinary example of collaborative and inclusive knowledge production, bringing together early-career researchers, established academics, civil society representatives (including the Economic Development Foundation), CIFAL Istanbul, and even current undergraduate students at Bahçeşehir University.
This special issue reflects FEJUST’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and feminist principles in knowledge creation. By amplifying diverse voices, especially those of young and emerging researchers, the special issue embodies the Chair’s dedication to hearing perspectives from across different societal and academic spectrums. Undergraduate contributions alongside those of seasoned academics underscore FEJUST’s belief in the transformative power of intergenerational dialogue.
The special issue stands as a concrete outcome of the Early Career Researcher Workshop held on June 6, 2024, at Bahçeşehir University. The workshop introduced participants to the core concepts of feminist epistemic justice and encouraged them to explore these ideas in their own research. This initiative delivered on FEJUST’s initial promise to foster feminist epistemic justice in Turkish academia by creating a platform for the exchange of critical perspectives and the development of new, inclusive frameworks.
The special issue addresses the structural inequalities and marginalizations within knowledge production processes, emphasizing the urgent need for feminist epistemic justice. By tackling issues such as epistemic injustice, gender inequalities in policymaking, and the transformative potential of feminist standpoint theory, the publication contributes to reshaping the academic landscape in Turkey. It serves as a call to action for Turkish academia to engage deeply with feminist critiques and adopt intersectional, inclusive approaches in research and policy.
This special issue is not just an academic achievement; it is a milestone in FEJUST’s mission to promote feminist epistemic justice and build a more equitable academic environment. It highlights the importance of collaborative, inclusive, and transformative knowledge production that bridges generational, disciplinary, and societal divides. FEJUST is proud to have facilitated this meaningful contribution to the feminist academic discourse in Turkey.
