Industrial Engineering – Capstone Project
The goal of the Capstone Project is allowing students to apply knowledge and skills they have gained through academic courses, and to provide student with scientific research, report presentation, and departmental as well as multi-disicplinary team work experience.
The Capstone Project is comprised of two courses first of which starts in the fall term and the second continues in the spring term. In the first course, INE4991 Capstone Project-I, the students are given theoretical knowledge about managing academic projects, the project teams are formed and they start to work with their advisors. In principle, the advisors give projects that involve at least two departments and the students from these departments team up together (e.g. Industrial Engineering and Software Engineering students can collaborate with advisors from each department on a software development project that involves optimization). The groups are expected to perform preliminary studies toward INE4992 Capstone Project-II, such as studies to understand the project concepts, literatüre survey, and preparing work plan fort he spring term.
Only the students who complete INE4991 Capstone-I successfully can enroll to INE4992 Capstone-II. The groups who take INE4992 Capstone-II continue with their project stages such as data collection, model building or statistical data analysis, and they complete the course by presenting a final report to their advisors.
