Bahçeşehir University was founded by Bahçeşehir-Uğur Education Foundation on 18.01.1998 in Istanbul. The university started to accept student admissions in the 1999-2000 academic year. The first campus of the university was in the Bahçeşehir region. As of 2004, all units of the university moved to Beşiktaş Campus.
