In the Department of Restorative Dentistry, undergraduate, major and doctoral education are all carried out through theoretical and practical courses. Undergraduate theoretical course content aims to develop students' research abilities, scientific thinking skills. Practical course content aims to develop the hand skills of the students for cavity preparations and dental restorations. Major education in the Department of Restorative Dentistry aims to train specialist physicians who will advance the dental profession academically in the light of evidence-based dentistry, who will closely follow the academic developments in dentistry, use their academic and clinical experience skillfully in the dental practices, not only perform but also adopt the principles of preventive dentistry as a primary goal, and adopt the most conservative treatment procedures.
The main goal of doctoral education in the Department of Restorative Dentistry is to raise physicians who will carry out, evaluate and internalize scientific research in the light of evidence-based dentistry that will take the dentistry profession to a higher level academically, as well as training them as researchers who can share the academic experience they gained, restore the lost aesthetics, function, and phonation to the patient.
Dentistry faculty students who have completed and graduated from the Department of Restorative Dentistry; will be competent physicians who give priority to the oral and dental health of the society, and apply the principles of preventive dentistry, as well as formation risk assessments, by taking precautions to prevent caries formation and progression after early caries detection. They will serve society as physicians who can provide aesthetic dental approaches such as teeth whitening procedures that will meet the high expectations of today's patients, as well as the treatment of tissue loss in dental hard tissues with direct and indirect adhesive restorations. They can apply to the Restorative Dentistry Doctorate of Science (Ph.D.) programs in their institutes or they can enter the Restorative Dentistry Specialization programs taking the Specialization Examination in Dentistry (DUS). Our colleagues who earn the title “Doctor of Science or Specialist Dentist” can work in private or public health institutions or continue their careers as academicians within universities.
