Endodontics - Education
Our practical training in the Department of Endodontics is a process in which students start in preclinics on tooth models anatomically similar to real tooth structure, and after gaining the experience and skills to work in clinics on patient models in our simulation laboratories, experience every aspect of modern dentistry in our clinics under the supervision of our competent faculty members.
Our theoretical training teaches the knowledge that forms the foundation of practical training. It is based on the principle of "acquiring knowledge through curiosity and research." Under the leadership of our faculty members, we aim to guide our students to become not only good dentists but also scientists.
Our main goal in endodontics education is to train dentists who can provide advanced health care to society, are open to self-improvement, understand the importance of continuing education, follow current and technological developments, are research-oriented, scientific and productive, respect medical and ethical principles, and take responsibility for their decisions.
Students who are trained in and graduate from this department will be dentists who can perform basic endodontic procedures such as the differential diagnosis and treatment of pain originating from the pulp and periapical tissues, prevention of pulp diseases and vital pulp therapies, root canal treatment and root canal retreatment.
Students who receive doctoral or specialization training in the Department of Endodontics will become expert scientists who, in addition to basic treatments, can perform advanced endodontic treatments such as the treatment of teeth with dental trauma, endodontic surgery, whitening of endodontically treated teeth, placement of posts in the root canal space for coronal restoration and revitalization therapies. After graduation, dentistry graduates who wish to continue their education in Endodontics can apply to Endodontics Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs at universities' Graduate Schools or be placed in Endodontics specialization programs by taking the Dentistry Specialization Exam (DUS). Colleagues who earn the title of PhD or Specialist Dentist can serve in private or public health institutions or continue their careers as academics at universities.
