It is aimed that the students who complete their education in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will become dentists who can master and apply the basic oral surgical principles, can provide dental services to patients with complex medical needs, have scientific thinking ability, and have internalized medical ethical values. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery education is given with theoretical courses and clinical internships during the 4th and 5th grades and theoretical courses and clinical observation during the 3rd grade.
The aim of a major and doctorate is to raise specialist dentists or science doctors who have knowledge of advanced surgical principles, can diagnose and treat complex maxillofacial deformities, tissue losses, and pathologies, carry out scientific studies in this field, or are a part of these studies.
After their graduation Dentistry students who want to continue their education in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery can apply to related programs in Graduate School or be placed in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialization programs by taking the Specialization in Dentistry exam (DUS). Our colleagues who have the title of Doctor of Science or Specialist can serve in private or public health institutions or continue their careers as academicians within universities.
