Message from the Head of the Department

Dear Students,

As the Department of Modern Languages, which provides instruction within the School of Foreign Languages at Bahçeşehir University, our priority in our globalizing world is to develop and reinforce the language skills that will support you academically throughout your university education.

Our department offers students of our university Basic English or Academic English courses according to their language of instruction. In Academic English courses, students are expected to blend the Basic English skills they have acquired with academic communication skills and develop them in a way that will also support their other courses throughout university life. In this way, our students develop their academic language skills while becoming familiar with interdisciplinary work in an intercultural classroom environment.

For students in programs whose language of instruction is Turkish, in addition to Basic English skills, we offer terminology and field-specific content that will help them in their departments and in the professional lives they will step into upon completing their university education.

While striving to enhance the quality and accessibility of the education we offer through technology-supported platforms, our department creates an environment where students can study and practice outside class hours and internalize what they have learned in class, and ensures that students remain in continuous communication with their course instructors.

In the Department of Modern Languages, all our courses are frequently updated and improved by our experienced instructors in line with students' needs. In this context, as the Department of Modern Languages, we work in collaboration with all faculties and departments of our university and take into account our students' needs and feedback.

In our increasingly globalized world, I would like to underline that we, as the Department of Modern Languages, are working diligently to fulfill our great responsibility to equip you, our valued students, with the knowledge and skills you will need in both your academic and professional lives, and to remind you that we are ready to offer you every kind of support in this regard.
