SDG-10.6.9.1

Evidence 1

As a general mission, Bahçeşehir University has adopted a supportive and well-equipped environment for students with disabilities. In addition, Bahçeşehir University aims to help students with disabilities to overcome the problems of their academic development and to develop their independence as individuals. In line with this mission, the Disabled Student Unit has made every effort to create a safe and accessible academic environment for all students with disabilities. The Unit meets the needs of disabled students who are enrolled in our university while they continue their education and makes necessary arrangements to determine and eliminate the obstacles they may encounter and the measures to be taken against them.

For mentoring the disabled students, at the beginning of each academic year an introductory program is prepared for students with disabilities who have just started our University. The existing disabled students are provided with course schedules as of the beginning of the courses and the arrangements for the related courses are planned. In this way, our students are prevented from becoming aggrieved by intervening early in academic disruptions they may encounter while continuing their education.

In addition, meetings are held with our students during the academic year to determine their needs in terms of scholarship, administrative, physical, housing, social and similar fields. Subsequently, steps are taken to meet these needs and cooperation with other units related to the required regulation is made.
