Our first face-to-face event after the pandemic, "Italian Migration Policy: Assessing The Pre- and Post-Covid Period" was held on June 3 with the moderation of Prof. Ulaş Sunata and the participation of guest speakers, Prof. Selcen Öner and Angela Ziccardi.

The online conference titled "Brain Drain and Reverse Brain Drain" was organized by the Social Democracy Foundation (SODEV) on the evening of March 23 with the participation of BAUMUS founding director Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata.

The article titled “Feminization of Refugee: Intersectionality, Solidarity, Resistance” was written by the founding director of BAUMUS Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata and BAUMUS student assistant Selin Özsoy within the framework of migration and gender studies and it has been published in International Migration journal!

The article titled "Legal Gender Recognition in Turkey" emerged as a result of the collaborative work of BAUMUS’ founding director Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata and his colleagues in the field of law Prof. Dr. Aslı Makaracı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda Öktem Çevik. It was published in one of the world's leading journals, the International Journal of Discrimination and the Law.

The meeting of Bahçeşehir University Migration Studies graduate program took place on Saturday, November 27th. The Migration Studies program, which started its classes during the pandemic, came together with its old and new students and trainers to both meet and socialize.

The tradition continues in this term, BireBir Webinar returns with the “Before 2021 Ends” series! BireBir Webinars in which Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata moderates interactive broadcasts where our guests and our audiences share their ideas and questions with us, are held on our Youtube channel.

The Local Advocacy School, which was co-organized for the 4th time with the Local Monitoring Research and Implementations Association (YERELİZ) and Bahçeşehir University Center of Migration and Urban Studies (BAUMUS), was held face to face again after the pandemic on 6-7 November 2021.

The "60 Years Success Story: Germany The Second Homeland" panel was held in Berlin, the capital city of Germany, for the 60th year of labour migration from Turkey to Germany, and It was co-organized by the Turkish Consulate General in Berlin, Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, and Bahçeşehir University (BAU).

With new supporters, we are repeating our call to the public by bringing many organizations together that work related to migration against the increasing anti-refugee and xenophobic approaches with the recent developments in our country.

As BAUMUS, we invite you to support life together against hatred, together with many institutions working in the field of migration, against the increasing anti-refugee and xenophobia, especially in social media, with the latest developments in our country.

BAUMUS executive board member Dr. Arzu Karakulak's research project “The Pandemic-Prejudice Link: Understanding How and When the Threat of COVID-19 Leads to Prejudice Against Refugees” has been awarded the 2021/2022 Mercator-IPC Research Fellowship.

As Bahçeşehir University Migration and Urban Studies Center (BAUMUS), we have launched a social media campaign in order to inhibit the dissemination of incorrect information regarding migration and to further prevent discriminatory attitudes towards migrants and refugees.

Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Ulaş Sunata, a special webinar was organized for International Women's Day.

Assoc. Prof. Ulaş Sunata met with Circassians from different age and gender groups, from different rural and urban regions with varying political opinions and they reflected their personal perceptions of what it is to be a Circassian. “Hafızam Çerkesçe” arose from the TUBİTAK project that was implemented in 2014 and is based on intense field work and oral history study.

An open source book has been published, aiming to present the "Human Rights Cities Indicators" study prepared within the scope of the project.

We aimed to raise awareness on the Syrian refugees in our country by asking the perceptions of our society in the form of questions to our citizens, with the series "DİYORLAR Kİ".

As BAUMUS, we gathered on our @baumuscenter YouTube channel every Tuesday evening at 20:00 with our Birebir Webinar Series that we continued for two semesters.

On that note, the event “Yerelde Göçü Yönetmek” aiming to assess the current situation and at the same time creating viable suggestions for the future, was held on Sunday June 20 as part of the 2021 World Refugee Day. This event was coordinated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Bahçeşehir University Center for Migration and Urban Studies (BAUMUS) and The International Training Center for Managers and Leaders affiliated with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
