With the participation of Professor Dr. Evandro de Oliveira, Bahcesehir University Medical Faculty organized the Skull Base Surgery Course for the second time in BAU TIP Göztepe Campus between 28-30th of May. The participants found the opportunity to analyze the anatomy of skull base in detail by using 3D technology, in the course where Professor Oliveira lectured.
BAU TIP who aims to contribute to the scientists working on medical area and the doctors all around the world upon the issue of medical education, continues to organize conferences which take participants from all over the world, seminars and courses.
BAU TIP, where the Rhoton Anatomy Laboratory is established,which is surrounded with the most modernized medical engines and instruments with the consent of Prof.Dr.Albert L.Rhoton,who is known to be founding father of neuro-anatomy and over 200 medical engines and instruments are named after him, hosted another important course in this laboratory between 28th-30th May. In Rhoton Anatomy Laboratory,where there are anatomy courses weekly, this time the fourth of the series of courses called “ Masters in Istanbul: Neurosurgery Series of Courses” took place.
24 trainees, 8 speakers and a moderator participated in the second Skull Base Dissection Course which started with the opening speeches of Prof.Dr. Türker Kılıç and guest instructor, Director of Institute of Neurological Sciences of Campinas State University(UNICAMP), Prof.Dr. Evandro de Oliviera.Also, 10 observer students also found the opportunity to participate in the course in which BAU TIP Science Honourary Decorate owner Prof.Dr.Necmettin Pamir participated as a moderator.
THE SKULL BASE WAS ANALYZED THROUGH 3D TECHNOLOGY
The main theme of neuroatonomy and skull base disection course which was organized through the 3D technology upon the Neuroatonomy topic was designated as the “Skull Base.” During the course, Prof.Dr.Evandro de Oliveira and Dr.Vicent Quills shared their experiences and authentic methods with the participants and the skull base anatomy was analyzed in detail by means of 3D Technology.
The course which is prepared for neurosurgery specialized students and all the young neurosurgists who completed their specialized education provides different surgical approaches to be made both practically and theoretically via examination over the cadaver.
ABOUT PROFESSOR OLIVIERA
Prof. Dr. Evandro de Oliveira, who is believed to be one of the pioneers of neurosurgery, and known as “the cognoscenti who achieved to compund anatomy knowledge into surgery.” Professor Oliviera, who was also brought up in Albert L. Rhoton Laboratory, is still working in Campinas State University(UNICAMP) as the Director of Institute of Neurological Sciences. The works and researches of Prof.Oliveira, were primarily concentrating on microneurosurgery anatomy, cerebrovascular diseases, epilepsy, myeloma, brain neoplasms and pituitary-hypothalamic hormones.
