Removing the borders in education through the campuses and centers it has established in many countries of the world, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) hosted Soumaya Ben Khaldoun, the Minister of Higher Education of Morocco, at the BAU Beşiktaş Campus. “We are ready to work with you if your offer to open a university in Morocco is still valid”, said Ben Khaldoun, who supports BAU’s efforts to establish a new university in Morocco.
After the steps taken in Morocco in 2013, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) started its works to open a university which will award degrees according to the Moroccan laws. Enver Yücel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BAU, and Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, President of BAU, met with Soumaya Ben Khaldoun, the Minister of Higher Education of Morocco, during his visit at the BAU Beşiktaş Campus, and decided to make investments as soon as possible. “We are ready to work with you if your offer to open a university in Morocco is still valid”, said Soumaya Ben Khaldoun, the Minister of Higher Education of Morocco, whose daughter is also a student of BAU.
Enver Yücel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BAU, stated that recent law amendments in Morocco have been a very positive development for BAU to open a university according to the laws of Morocco. “Our interest in Morocco is increasing each passing day because Morocco and Turkey have several characteristics in common. Turkey opens doors to Asia, while Morocco is the door to Africa. Therefore, we’re taking important steps for strategic relations. The fact that those steps are taken by establishing a university is very significant to built a strong and permanent relationship between two countries. We’re examining the law amendments in Morocco and we’re so ready that we can invest even tomorrow. In particular, we’ll focus on schools of architecture and art”, said Yücel.
